What to Expect From Your Invisalign Treatment
If you are considering Invisalign, here is exactly what your treatment will look like from start to finish.
Step 1: Consultation
Dr. Mohip or Dr. Walters will examine your teeth, discuss your goals, and determine whether Invisalign is right for you. We take digital scans (no goopy impressions) and review a 3D preview of your projected outcome.
Step 2: Your custom aligners arrive
Two to three weeks later, you will receive a series of clear aligners. Each set moves your teeth slightly closer to the final position.
Step 3: Wear and rotate
- Wear each set 22 hours per day, removing only to eat, drink (non-water), brush, and floss.
- Switch to the next set every 1 to 2 weeks.
- Brief check-in visits every 6 to 8 weeks.
Step 4: Refinement (if needed)
Some cases benefit from a final round of refinement aligners to perfect the result. Most patients need 5 to 10 refinement aligners over 2 to 3 months.
Step 5: Retainer for life
To prevent teeth from shifting back, you will wear a clear retainer at night, indefinitely. Most patients do this for life and never have a problem.
