Same-Day Dental Crowns ~ An Ideal Solution for a Bright, Beautiful Smile

Same-Day Dental Crowns are a popular solution for dental repair

When a tooth is cracked or chipped, the dentist can replace it with a dental crown. It’s an easy and painless process that can improve the appearance of your smile quickly.

Here are 3 things to know about the benefits of same-day dental crowns:

Most of us have been exposed to TV commercials extolling the virtues of same-day dental crowns. You may even have some of these crowns in your own mouth! But you may be wondering if they will last and be worth the time and expense? Or are they only an expensive fix to temporarily cover up a broken or chipped tooth? The fact is that same-day dental crowns are an effective and practical alternative to traditional dental crowns. In fact, they are so effective, many people prefer them to their original teeth.

Same-Day Dental Crowns

The main advantage of same-day dental crowns over traditional crowns is that they are made while you wait right there at the dental office in only one visit.

Additional advantages include not having to endure the process of the dentist having to make a mold and put in a temporary crown to wear while the lab makes your crown.  Further, you will have to schedule at least one more appointment to have the crown put in once it finally arrives.  Sometimes another follow-up appointment is needed in case the lab-made crown doesn’t fit right.

The process for same-day dental crowns (also known as CEREC) is simple. A special 3D camera is used to take digital impressions of your teeth. These images are uploaded to a computer-aided design program that creates the crown to fit your teeth perfectly.

Unlike traditional lab-made dental crowns made from metal and porcelain, which may crack or chip if they are not properly handled, same-day dental crowns are made from a ceramic material known as zirconium dioxide. This material is virtually indestructible, and the color usually well matches the surrounding teeth, so it looks natural.

They are also flexible and can be easily shaped to fit the original tooth. All-ceramic crowns are very similar to same-day dental crowns but are generally less expensive due to their lightweight and low-cost material.

In addition, same-day dental crowns are more durable than their lab-milled counterparts. All-ceramic crowns typically last between ten and fifteen years before they need to be replaced. On the other hand, a lab-milled crown lasts for anywhere from three to five years before it needs to be replaced.

Due to their durability, convenience, and long-lasting performance, many patients opt for same-day dental crowns rather than traditional crowns. It is a decision that is highly recommended to those who want to have a beautiful smile with healthy teeth, but who do not want to have to endure the discomfort of traditional crowns. In fact, when it comes to dental care, few treatments are more effective and less painful than having a crown installed.

Same-Day Dental Crowns are a viable solution for those who are missing teeth. Although they do require a minimal amount of maintenance, they will provide a bright, beautiful smile for a long time.

Many patients prefer the aesthetic appeal of same-day dental crowns and find them to be far superior to the look of traditional dentures. In addition, same-day dental crowns are designed to better fit comfortably over the existing tooth. This, in turn, increases the patient’s comfort as well as the effectiveness of the treatment.
